The AME Zion University is a Co-educational institution that exists to provide quality tertiary education with in a Christian and humane environment, intended to meet the spiritual, intellectual and professional needs of our people and nation.  The University promotes values, attitudes, and behaviors within a religious, educational, economical and cultural context in the academic community in Liberia and beyond.
MISSION STATEMENT OF THE AME ZION UNIVERSITY

The Mission of the A.M.E. Zion University is to equip students with a sound intellectual foundation, molding characters, challenging and shaping the minds, and equipping them with skills that will enable them to function and perform in a pluralistic and technological society. Thus, in view of its educational philosophy and mission, the University provides:
•  An opportunity for students to become self-directed, pursue their individual interest, and fulfill their individual needs
•  Personal, academic and career advancement that will enable students to discover and develop their creativity and talents
•  Diversified educational programs which meet the needs, interest and abilities of students
•  Bachelor of Arts Degree courses leading to careers in business, politics, sociology, criminal justice administration, theology and other professional areas.

The University provides variety of attendants’ patterns and has six colleges. These include; the College of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration, College of Business and Public Administration, College of Divinity, College of Liberal Arts, College of Education, and the College of General studies.
Purpose
The African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AME-ZU), like other higher institutions of earning in Liberia, has the responsibilities of enhancing academic and the intellectual growth and development of the youth of Liberia in particular and the world community in general.

ACTIVITES REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JULY, 2018

 

The department of Planning Research and Institutional Development (VPPRID) consist of three (3) personnel:

  1. Alfred A. Kulah – Vice President
  2. Samuel Ballah – Administrative Assistant, and
  3. Mulbah B. Sumo – Assistant Director for Research

 

The department is charged with seven (7) responsibilities as follows:

 

  1. To exercise oversight responsibilities and duties over the research, planning and institutional advancement of the University;
  2. To assist the University with its short, medium and long terms development through research and planning in terms of infrastructures, capacity development, programs, projects etc;

 

  1. To work with the President and other officials of the University to reach out to institutions and individuals for fund raising initiatives for the development projects of the University;

 

  1. To plan, organize and implement outreach programs and projects into local communities for increasing the impact and influence of the University in our society;
  2. To identify ways and means for the development of the Human Resource capacity of the University;

 

  1. To assist the President and the other two Vice Presidents with strategy on administrative and academic matters for the advancement of the institution; and

 

  1. To perform those tasks and duties as will be required by the office of the President of the University and report directly to the president of the University.

 

As stated in the above term of reference, the Department in term of planning research, and Institutional Advancement  provides support to the departments of Administration, and Academic Affairs.  Particular support was provided in June 2018 to the Department of Academic Affairs in anticipation of the graduation exercises of 2017/2018.  Particular support was provided to the Director of Programs of the AME Zion Church in landscaping the Po-River Campus as well as the construction of the graduation shed.

 

In July 2018 as Chair of the committee to establish a graduate program at the AME Zion University, I chaired the committee to compile a document, that includes the structure and contend of the proposed graduate program. Finalization of the graduate program documents will be completed by August 27, 2018 to be submitted to the faculty senate, and later to the Board of Trustees for its approval.

 

In anticipation of the  re-opening of school in late September, or early October, I  worked very closely with the vice President for Academic Affair
1. In the preparation of the academic calendar 2018/2019.

 

  1. Will undertake research in conjunction with Dean of Admissions
    Record & Registration to produce a facts book on the student body,
    and faculty

 

  1. Reduction in total teaching hours of senior level personnel to ensure
    better execution of administrative functions;

Similarly, I will work very closely with the vice President for Administration in the drafting of:

  1. the Defer payment Policy;
  2. Administrative withdrawal Policy (Leave of absence);
  3. In the drafting of an updated personnel policy

 

 

Resources that will be immediate required

 

  1. Two (2) set of Desktop computer
  2. Stationary and supply
  3. Three (3) Filling cabinets
  4. Two sets of Printers
